Greetings!
Yep! Just showing off my newly reworked threads to those who actually understand why I would be enthusiastic about clothes that went out of style over 250 years ago.

It's a good thing that I don't wear this stuff every day. The ladies simply would not be able to handle my levels of historically augmented handsomeness. I would be covered with lipstick and dodging the constant barrage of their undergarments! Very annoying and inconvenient! :rotf:

The weskit, and breeches were reworked from existing garments by a really talented local lady, who has been researching and recreating historical clothing since before I was a baby.

The weskit was haphazardly stitched together for me years ago when I was 50 lbs heavier, by someone who seriously needs to refine their sewing skills, and rethink their concept of period correctness.
My historical seamstress friend redid the weskit using a 1730's French pattern, and used pewter buttons reproduced from excavated originals.

She did shorten the weskit per my request...A common modification done in the Scottish Highlands, allowing it to be more comfortably worn with a great kilt.
It now fits me like a glove, and is probably the most historically accurate piece of kit I own.

The shirt was a loving, yet misguided gift from my Mother who purchased a liene type shirt through a Renn Faire vendor. *sigh*
My aunt was kind enough to remove the neck laces, and modify the sleeves to make it look slightly more appropriate for the 18th c. Thankfully the weskit conceals the vertical seam smack dab in the front- running from the collar to the bottom hem. :idunno:
Thankfully, a proper replacement is forthcoming.

The breeches used to be pants, and were obtained via trade from my uncle who is a pretty active F&I war reenactor in Pennsylvania.
Apparently they're modern pants with a buttoned drop front flap added to give them an old timey appearance....They'll work just fine for now.
My seamstress friend cut and hemmed them, added hook and eye closures on the leg cuffs, and did something pretty clever-She attached a couple strips of twill tape to be tied across the front. This holds your breeches up while you unbutton the front flap...An extremelyhandy feature when using those portable plastic bathrooms at events!
As always, any comments, suggestions and criticisms are welcome... I learn quite a lot from your input, so thanks for that.
over and out!
Iain
