I took one of the elements from a Wm Shreckengost rifle circa 1855, the silver cheekpiece, and scrimmed it on a horn. This design is commonly found on Kentucky longrifles from the era.

Thanks, can't decide whether to put more stuff on it or just stain it as is.
 
Nice horn if it was mine I would just Stain as is. I am a less is always more type of guy. :2
 
Thanks for the kind words. I'm going to name this the "Chickenhawk Horn" because my first attempt at relief carving an eagle on the plug looks like some other bird.
