Which is the faster action and why?

Musketman-Excellent question,I have rifles with both types of locks.Honestly,I can not tell any difference between the two.By the time I get a good sight picture,squeese the trigger,stay on target after the rifle fires.By the time I do all of that,I just hope I made a good shot....Respectfully montanadan
 
Really depends upon lenght of throw and spring tension..........................elevation and wind direction! :rotf:

I always thought that back actions were faster.Most back action locks have a stirrup and I think that they are faster because of less friction. I prefer a lock that has a stirrup.

Me too, the geometry of the lock has a lot to do with it, the position of the main spring in relation to the tumbler, length of throw, friction, ect...
