Carpet tape, almost as good as duct tape. I was trying to position the sights on this 40 cal. I'm building, and the sights would fall off at the slightest bump or would move when I tried to mark their position. Then the old lightbulb came on. A couple strips of carpet tape on the top flat, and the sights stayed put, so I could shoulder the rifle and get the right sight plane. Now this may have been covered before, but I haven't seen it lately. It dawned on me that it would also work to hold inlays on while you marked them. :D :imo:

Now that's good ole fashion ingenuity Bill
And who says ya can't teach an ole dog new tricks??

I used to think ya only needed two things. WD-40 and duct tape. If it's supposed to move and dont, use WD-40. and if'n it moves, and it ain't supposed to, use duct tape. But nows I gotta add carpet tape, boy that's a lot to member

Another idea is use a thin refridgerator magnet such as the kind that have advertising on one side. Does not work too well on brass sights or brass barrels though :: BJH
