I took the scope off of my new first time muzzleloader as Colorado doesn't allow scopes. Although I never needed contacts or glasses when younger I now need reading glasses. I discovered that without glasses I can see downrange but not the front or rear sight. With one strength reading glasses I can see the rear sight but not the front or downrange. With a different strength I can see the front but not the rear or downrange. Is there a solution for this problem? Thanks, Fred

I had the same problem. It's called old eyes. HA
I now use the Merit Optical Attachment on my glasses. It lets you see both sights and the target by using an adjustable iris, like a peep sight, it sticks on your glasses by a suction cup. Check out their web site, it's www.meritcorpration.com.
I think it cost me about $50 but well worth it. You could do the same thing by folding a soda can tab over and putting a small hole in it, then hanging it on your glasses. The Merit thing lets you vary the hole from .022 to .156 dia.

Good luck.

Welcome to the "Aging Eyes Club" ::
For me, I found I can use full size drugstore reading glasses in the 1.00 and/or 1.25 diopter range to get the sights in focus and provide some eye protection from the flintlock at the same time
