The site says its cannon powder, sold in Fg grade. Its not intended for use in shotguns or rifles, or pistols. You will have to call them to find out who makes it.

No Paul, the PowderInc site definately lists Skirmish Powder being available in Fg & FFFg. To answer the initial question though, it is made in P.R. China.

Oh boy, Ya mean I can help sink another American company ( Goex) and get the low quality of Chinese made stuff at the same time ?

Beware of cheap powder, especially cheap chinese powder. I remember trying Elephant brand once...ugh!

how about graff and sons or jacks powder keg powders, who makes their powders? I am tempted to order some and divide it by the letter of illinois law but is it worth the hassle when I can get it for 17.00 a pound? and I am only allowed 5 lb

If your looking for "good" powder try to locate a forum member reasonably close and order a case. Goex is preferred. Split the cost.

Correct me I'm wrong somebody but Skirmish powder is cheap BP, poorly refined, using low grade charcoal that is designed for the fireworks trade. It goes bang, and does so without having to have a wad. Skirmishers are not permitted ramrods on the field IIRC, so a powder just has to be dumpable down the barrel and easily ignitable. It does not have to burn evenly, maintain good shot to shot velocities and it doesn't have to be particularly clean burning. IIWY, I wouldn't waste my money on it.

Pretty sure the Graff powder is made by Wano in Germany & is very good quality. Haven't heard of the other brand you mentioned. I personally prefer to use Goex, but have developed loads using Swiss powder for my competition guns as Goex is rarely available when I travel internationally to shoot whereas Swiss is pretty much the standard overseas.

Thanks for posting this topic. I am new to Holy Black. I have been using American Pioneer Powder for my BP cartridges, shotshells and for muzzleloader. With that said I need to be economical with my "recreational" spending. I started using Goex Cowboy and I really like it but it is a bit expensive to use with shotshells and muzzleloaders. If Skirmish is not a good powder, what would you suggest for loading shotshells and for muzzleloaders? Thanks

I use the goex 3f in all 3 of my calibers it shoots great those being 54, 62, 32 in rifles and 54 and 32 in the pistols. like I said as of now it is cheeper to just pay for it as I need it from Darnall's range.
