I posted this picture in another topic on the forum, but thought it ought to go here as well. These little turnscrews aren't any harder to make than a patch knife. I turned the handle on a lathe (although you could whittle it out). I silver soldered sheet brass into a tube for the ferrule (premade brass or copper tube would've been easier). Steel was from a worn out sawzall blade shaped on a grinder. Cut a slot into the handle ( a little past where the ferrule sits), slip the ferrule on, apply a little good epoxy, and tap the blade into the slot. The tip is filed to fit lock screws, and the side blade fits the cock screw which gives plenty of torque to tighten the jaws down on the flint. They are period correct for the mid to late 18th century. I have made several which live in my and my son’s various shooting bags.
