Has anyone ever tried a 25 cal smoothbore. Something akin to a garden gun or a rat popper?
I'm interested in this project, in process of getting everything together for a 32 smooth bore. Have found threads about 22 rimfire barrels being used as muzzleloader rifle barrels. So a smooth bore that small should be possible? With #9 and #12 shot on hand to play with in 32 caliber smooth bore will see what it does. I will do a barrel starting at between 24" and 30". Will test and cut an inch at a time to 20" or so. Have enough material to make barrel of whatever length works best. Also, you think 2ft of barrel is enough or 3 ft?
I built a .32 caliber smooth bore handgun several years back to play with around the shop. At reasonable distance with #9 or #12 shot was great on rats, chipmunk size pest. Shot patched round ball well. Would load builders sand and shoot wood bees. Friend loved it and shot more than I did. That is one reason I want longer barrel 32 smooth bore. Also to compare to rifled 32 with ball.Ill be interested to hear how it goes. I think im going to get a 3ft tube to start. I can always cut it down later.
