This is rather late, but if you find yourself in the area....
There will be a roundtable discussion forum on (but not limited to) the 1837 smallpox epidemic and its effect on the northern plains. It'll be held in the upper meeting room of Williston State College, 7:30 pm central time, on Saturday August 9th. The panel will include Jim Hanson (Museum of the Fur Trade), Gerard Baker (NPS coordinator for the Lewis & Clark bicentennial and Mandan/Hidatsa tribal member), Ray DeMallie (director of American Indian studies at Indiana University), among others. Refreshments will follow.
Promises to be an interesting evening.
