I finally got around to smelting a bunch of lead shavings I bought from a machine shop, when they made new anodes for a chrome plating business. Started with a 1 gallon paint can, and switched to a steel 5 gallon pail. Other than having to take a good slotted spoon from the kitchen it went pretty smoothly. A hot fire and good gloves did the trick.
