Smith carbine help needed

Can anyone point me toward a gunsmith that works on the Smith carbine.
Mine has a trigger pull that is measured with a fish scale.
It shoots accurately, but the half cock and trigger pull are awful.
Any help will be appreciated.

There's a guy on the N-SSA forum who had some coil spring trigger springs made. I just changed mine out - took more time to get the side plate off than it did to change the spring. Problem solved. Here's a picture of the stock spring and the replacement.

thanks I am going to try this phone number first Do you have a number ot web site for the spring maker?
The trigger pull is only one of the lock problems and is way past my pay grade to fix..

I just changed mine out - took more time to get the side plate off than it did to change the spring. Problem solved. Here's a picture of the stock spring and the replacement.

I'll never forget the first time I was shown how to get the side plate off, use a sharp knife to begin separating it, then tapping the receiver until it comes off.

Smith's can be a real PITA to fix the half cock and retain a good trigger pull, because it's as much trial and error as anything as you adjust them, but a guy who can do a trigger pull job correctly will get it right.

I never had those coil springs when I worked on them and it took at least 6 hours to do the job and often 8 to 10 hours.

What's the issue with the half cock?

Well, unlike a regular lock plate where you can use an Opti Visor or some kind of magnifying lens to see if you have clearance when the half cock goes by the sear face, you really can't do that as well on the Smith as replacing the plate throws off the way the parts sit with the plate off. So you have to try it and take a little more off, try and take more, etc. until it clears.

Larry Flees is good troop. He did both my Sharps and some work on one of my Smiths. I have no reservations about his work.
