went out today bout 1:30 sat till just bout dark when a knob head came into range....stopped dead broadside to me at 30 yards and miss curly spoke loudly and he fell in a heap where he was standing....looked like the only one coming in so i took him home....don't know how i would handle a big doe with my strength not so great right now since my surgery....by time i got him all done up and home, cut up and in the fridge right fer now and i'm pooped....i even brought my car in the camp across the grass field right next to him....tagged him with my doe tag, that way i still have my buck tag that i can use on a doe also....hit him right behind the shoulder and just below the spine and he just dropped in his tracks....pass through with the .50 PRB with a 1" exit hole :shocked2: no meat was really hit so no damage to any :v ...........bob

Nice shooting! Sounds like the only meat you lost was a couple of ribs, them young ones are tasty too.

Bob:
Good shootin. probably felt good to get back out again, eh. One more tag, one more deer. Good luck.

snagg

thanks all....to bad i'm not allowed hunting in the community i live in....when i was cutting up the deer a 6 point came down the hill and stood broadside to me 15 yards away :shocked2: :v ...........bob

Congrats and Waidmanns Heil from GE. Another clean kill with the famous PRB's.

That is a testament to the killing power of the PRB and the adage that 'shot placement is King, penentration is Queen'. That .50 is more than enuff for whitetail when combined with good shooting. Congrats and enjoy that venison steak smothered in gravy!

here's my shot placement on my deer that dropped it in it's tracks :v ..............bob

Thanks for the pic. So the deer got a big hit on his back from your well placed bullet. That is the cause why it died in its tracks immediately. Did you shot directly throug the back bones?

beleve it or not i missed the spine....guess i scared the life out of it :rotf: ....if ya look at the red dot it's just below the spine :v ..............bob

So spine is the word. But I think the shock wave of the bullet through the body gave both the spine and the loungs a big kick which killed it rapidly.

So, nevertheless, great shot.

Congrats on that doe, she'll be GOOOOOOOOOOOD eating!

But wasn't it more like this:
