Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
Good question. I've been doing some shopping myself for a good barrel maker. I've been wanting to have made a 36" oct-round .62 with a thompson center breech plug for a renegade hunter or new englander stock. I don't who to pick either. Heard good things about oregon barrel company but don't know how to reach them. Let me know what you find out.
Taylor in Texas
My 20 bore fowler has a 46" octagon to round (tapered) barrel made by Long Hammock in Fla. & sold to me by Barb at Jim Chambers. Not too much choice in that long & style bbl but Long Hammock seemed to make a nice one, Chambers sells quality parts & my builder was ok with it. Availability was also an issue as Bard had three & I could pick. It did need to be bent (see thread re bending bbls.) but I am happy with the end result. Good luck with your selection.
Getz Barrel company makes a damn fine barrel. They will also custom make one for you too, you will just have to wait longer. Figure a 6 month wait after you order.
