Hi, I know the limitations of smooth bores but what is really the case for a smoth bore pistol? The reason I am asking is that I cannot at this stage make my own rifling and I found that stainless steel brake cylinder liners make grat liners (minimum size 1/2 inch, inside) For pistol barrels 6 inch long it should be accurate enough since you would shoot longer barrels if you were in accuracy. (Luckyly I have two 9 inch rifled barrel) This very smooth liners should do for a short pistol with round ball (or even lead shot in the case of self defence)but what accuracy (or inaccuracy) should I expect from this with a RB?

Check on your local laws first, a smoothbore pistol may fall under the sawed off shotgun catagory. Most states frown on that.

Having saying that, a smoothbore pistol will perform well, if you stay within it's design limits.

Don't expect to make 75 yard shots from the hip with it...

I believe the bulk of them were nothing more than self defence guns, avarage shot being no more than 20 yards or so, but thats my opinion.

I would say you should be able to make a five to eight inch group at that distance.
The groups might tighten up a bit (3-5 inch) if the smoothbore is cleaned between shots.
