Hi All,

I had my 20 ga smoothy out last night and got it pretty well sighted in at 25 yards. I was about 3 inches low and ran out of day lite. I had to remove about 1/4" of the front sight.

My question is this....If I zero the gun at 25 yards will the trajectory of the ball still be rising or falling at 50yards?

If sighted in at 25 yards, can I expect the ball to be higher, lower or the same at 50 yards?

My load is 80grns FF and a .600 ball.

I shot a few times at 50 and hit the target twice but completely missed the target 4-5 times????

Any suggestions? Comments?

THanks

My first suggestion would be: Don't file any more off the front sight until you develop the load that groups best...then adjust sights.

If it was me, I'd just keep "shooting groups" at 50yds, hold on zero but not caring where they print until I discovered the powder/wad/patch/ball configuration that gave the tightest groups, then adjust

Roundball is right on with his information. Get your gun to grouping before filing the sights. :m2c:
