I have been wanting a .62 cal smoothbore flintlock pistol for a while now.

Anybody have any expierence's with the smoothbore pistols & how's the accuracy ?

I have a pair of them that are fun to shoot. I can hit almost anything at 10 to 15 feet especially if I use buck and ball or buckshot.

Don't get one for target shooting, you will be really disappointed. However, they are a lot of fun to shoot and will really tear up a stump or a large target with buckshot and 35 grains of 2F.

Many Klatch

I have two, one a Miquelet and the other a French
#9. The miquelet will hit or come close to a pill
bottle at approx 25 yrs. The #9 needs the sight
moved a bit to the right...both very deadly at
that distance..I never tried further but now i
think I will...Also because I don't put them on
a paper I don't worry about grouping...but these
pill bottles are about three inches tall and two
inches wide...I have posted pictures of the Miquelet....or I should say Widget did for me.

Accuracy is beter than you might think. A good smoothbore will hold a 2-inch group at 25 yards. The problem is finding a good gun. BTW, smaller bores will shoot more accurately. Most flintlock duelling pistols ran .55 or less.

They can be more accurate that you might think. At 25 yeards mine puts the lead on target each time and I have no sights on it. One of these days I'm going to start setting targets out in 5 yard incriments to see just how far out I can accurately hit what I'm aiming at.

I built two smoothbore .62 caliber dragoon pistols and each one can hit a man size target pretty reliably at 25 yards. Beyond that don't expect to hit much.
