Whose ready for some Turkeys Gobbling and Dry-Land Fishing for Morels? What's your plans for Spring hunting? I'll be hunting Ft Campbell, Kentucky, Tennessee and possibly Missouri and Virginia. I will definitely be taking a trip down on to a honey hole to Trout fish and turkey hunt. I can turkey hunt two states and catch Trout from the same campsite.

May venture to deep south Texas (Kenedy co.) a try for a bearded buzzard. Lots of birds in the oak motts.

Pigs sometimes wander thru too. As well as nilgai. But I still have some of the ol’ blue bull left in the freezer. But a turkey hunt will be fun.

I was in the 101st at Ft. Campbell in the early 60's and there was precious little hunting going on at that time. They did have some streams on the base and a good lake at the east end of the post and a decent rod and gun club house there. a couple of buds and I did a lot of fishing of the streams and got some good fish. Deer hunted once, used a 20 ga. shotgun with slugs. Shotguns were all that were allowed. One guy got a small spike. Western Ky had few deer anywhere at that time. Never saw or heard of a turkey. I guess the Ky game people have improved the state's wild life.

I am counting the days, hunting Kentucky, Pa, Maine and my home state if WV. Being retired I have been on the trout streams 3 days a week. The fishing this winter has been outstanding...
Call them up close and shoot them in the face!

What do you do wait till the stick their head in the blue bag and then grab them? Lol
Ft Campbell's hunting is pretty good. Deer better turkey. Since I'm retired military and have access, I can drive to scout. The problem is that because you have to sign into a particular area, it's hit or miss. .. And could be a foot race against other hunters in the area but I usually hunt week days@FTC
Ensieder, I grew up in South Texas, Kleberg Co. Killed my first six turkeys there.
3Trees are you catching on Nymphs?

Realwarrior,

Ive seen turkeys so thick on that Kenedy county place that I have actually walked thru them, with birds on both sides of me not 15-20 feet away! Shooing them out of the way so I could walk down the road! LOL!

Good luck on your hunt! I hope I can get to go down!!
