I just finished this Lancaster style 28 gage smoothie for my Friends 50th birthday.
He doesn't know it coming
His name is Harry, so I put in just a little carving
I made some of my typical errors on the weapon.
When ever I build one it's always something different. :cursing:
on this one
I put my christian fish inlay in first, before the trigger guard and that caused the trigger guard to go in a little too far back. You can still fit a fat finger in guard, so it's staying the way it is.
However I am a very stubborn man and I am going to keep at it until I build the "perfect" one.

If I may throw my 2 pence in, Harry's getting a beautiful gift. But the more valuable gift, by far, is having a friend who would do such a thing, especially unknown to him.

You should be proud to have made such a wonderful gift, but even more so to be such a friend. There ain't many like you around.

I tip my hat to you, Sir. :hatsoff:

He is my oldest friend.
We have know each other for close to 40 years.
God I can't believe it's been that long.
Kids, a couple of divorces, a few different jobs.
He has always been there.
He was looking at one in my house and I could see he wanted one.
He Couldn't swing the cost...
Well, that's OK I get to see his and his wife's face when I give it to him.
Hope he likes it.
Of course if it gets shot 10 times in the next few years I going to be supprised.
I test fired it a couple of days ago.
Shoots straight and true, Quick and very reliable.
A little low, the front sight needs to be filed.

Oldarmy,

I have never met you, but I can tell that I would like you. What you are doing is a definate act of class and character. My hat is off to you! :hatsoff:
