Never messed with a horn before but I really enjoyed myself! This was a horn that I got for free in a box of junk my uncle bought at an auction. It had the plug made but was otherwise a horn in the raw. I thought maybe I could do something with it and began rasping and sanding. Also thought I would try my hand at “scrimshaw” nothing fancy but I think it’s cool for my first ever horn! Really want to play with a buffalo horn next!! Does anyone have a source for buffalo horn?? Feel free to critique let me know what you think!

That looks awesome! Great job. Half the battle is making that first cut! I did something similar on an inexpensive eBay horn. They just get better from here with each experience. It’s a fun/easy medium to work with and lots of potential for personal expression. You should be proud of that horn, it’s you’re design and you did it yourself! Cant stop at just one, Lol!

My very first scrimshaw/carving. Even did some relief carving of the rabbit.

Awesome horn! Is that razor knife what you use for the scrimshaw work?
