I just found these pics of a couple of 1776 Grice rifles I did back in the mid 90's. Never again !

Thanks, PeteG too. To me, a fowler guy, their were just a ton of new things to deal with. Such as the captured ramrods with retaining spring, hooked breech, wedges instead of pins, sling swivels, a three leaf rear sight, 6 dovetails to cut, etc. All castings from TRS so lots of cleanup work on small parts. The 'metal work' crack was tongue in cheek. I actually like metal work too. These two were done for friends around the mid 90's before internet help. I charged 1200. and took a pretty good shellacking timewise. But, I'm content with how they turned out, I just wouldn't want to do it again.
 
I would rather do the metalwork all day with cuts on my fingertips and the metal immersed in saltwater than do woodwork for 10 minutes.
I absolutely despise woodwork
