The recent posts about browning and UV light got me to thinking about solar ovens. Easy peasy. Make a cardboard box to hold your barrel, line it with aluminum foil and set it in the sun.
If you make the cross section like a parabola, you should get some real cooking.
I had a fiberglass parabolic dish once upon a time, lined it with foil and cooked hot dogs with it.
Of course, breezes suck away a lot of heat, and clouds are a problem - well, nothing's perfect.
Anybody ever played with this for browning barrels and such?
