Went back to the range this morning.
Started with my new Lyman Plains pistol at 15 yds. Poured in 35 Gr. of 3FFF BP. .530 RB with a .010 lubed patch. First 2 shots were high and to the right. Checked my hand hold and trigger finger position. Applied a little less finger on the trigger. Last three shots were dead center on the bulls eye. Put it back in my P.U. truck.
Took out my T.C. Big Boar 58 cal. Poured in 100 Gr. of 2FF of BP. A .570 RB with a lubed .015 patch. Fired 5 shots. The first went to the right about 4 inches. Again watching my trigger finger, I fired three more times and all were in the 9 and 10 rings. The 5th shot was a flyer. ( My fault) Did have to swab between shoots as it was pretty hard to reload with out doing it. Distance was 50 yds. Put the rifle back into my P.U. truck.
Happy so far this morning.
I then pulled out my T.C. 50 Cal. New Englander. Loaded it up with 80 Gr. of 3FFF BP. a .49O RB with a .015 lubed patch. After much sight adjustments, I finally put my last 2 shots in the 3 inch bullseye. This also at 50 Yds. Must have shot at least 8 or 9 shots to finally get it hitting in the 9 and 10 ring. Last time I shot this rifle ( Same ball and load) I was shooting at quart jugs at 50 yds and hitting them with each shot. Don't know what happened between then and now.
Oh well...I still had fun for a few hours shooting. Did notice that at my age and eye sight, a 6 inch target is pretty small at 50 yds. That is my common excuse anymore to all those youger shooters. LOL
All shots were taken from a lead sled on a shooting bench.
Got home and the wife said I smelled like smoke. I smiled and kept walking on.
