is there a list of terms that would apply to the muzzleload trade such as swamped didnt know what it was until i asked .i thought it ment that it got dropped in the mud ?

I don't know of one, but I bet Mooskeetman could find one if it exists.
There are of course a lot of terms dealing with muzzleloaders that don't mean the same thing as the word as it is normally used by common people.
Cock, Dog, hammer, nipple, frizzen, pan, serpentine, match, battery, jaw, sear, tumbler, bridle, spoon, drum, thimble, pipe, breech, bore, land, groove, furrow, patch, ball, bolster, butt, comb, wrist, wedge, toe, incised, relief, grain, dram, blastedrattifrax (what you say in mixed company when a delayed fire causes the last shot of a perfect 10X group to become a 9X plus one 6),......

I'm sure I only scratched the surface. ::

Don't forget "authentic"...(VBG)...one of those others sounds like Yosemite Sam from the Warners Bros 1950's era....very PC for the time when after rabbits.

I shoot nothin' but totally, 100%, guaranteed authentic TC Hawkens form way back in a past century! :: ::

I have been thinking about this AgesofDays, and I have decided to make a glossery of muzzleloading terms and add it in the links section under general reading or Muzzleloading Techniques and Procedures...

This is a good idea and if anyone has any terms to add that I miss, please feel free to private message me and I will be sure to add them...

Look for the muzzleloading glossery in the next few days to come...

Update: the glossary of muzzleloader terms is up and running...

Look for it in the links section under it's own catagory... ::

Your muzzleloading dollars at work... :winking:

Lookin good! I can tell a lot of work went into making this, and I am sure it will be useful to a lot of people.

I think it will also create some discussion on some of the definitions, but discussion is what keeps this place interesting. :)

I think it will also create some discussion on some of the definitions,

The definitions I used are standard definitions of parts used in the industry, not my own distorted beliefs of what the part should do...

So please keep this in mind, if ANYONE feels a definition is wrong or lacking, please let me know and I will add to or correct it at once...

Thanks to AgesofDays for the insperation to do this... :applause:
