Can anyone point me towards a source for knife blade blanks made with good tool steel. I've been able to find a bunch of unknown or questionable quality steel, but none of good, O1 for example, steel.

I want to use a good tool steel for them but I only want to make a couple. So I hate to invest in all the various stuff needed to turn them out.

Go to the hardware store and buy a lawnmower blade long enough for 2 knives.

What do you mean by "blanks?"

Crazy Crow has a nice selection of Solingen made high carbon steel blades in several period styles and sizes - although I generally make my own blades or have them made by a couple of blade smith friends I've used many of the Solingen blades over the years and they are very good blades that will take and hold an edge well.
Track of the Wolf also sell some of the same make of blades with a few different styles available.
Never have used the stainless blades offered by both so can't comment.

J & L industrial supply will sell tool steel blanks 18 inches long. They offer several thickness and widths. If you want good quality high carbon steel for knife blades. Old farriers rasps make better knives than files. But Nickolson files make nice knives. :idunno:

Here (maybe ) are knives made from nicholson files and old industrial hacksaw blades.

The fifth from the bottom right column is a solingern blade I picked up in trade. And fit the antler handle to. The fourth from the top left side was a momax cutoff blade from an automatic screw machine I reworked.
