The Club Butt Fowler thread has me interested in building a fowler with a 54-60 inch 16-20 gauge barrel but the typical sources top out around 48 inches. I've also been looking for a punt gun/wall gun barrel in the 4-8 bore range.

I had the thought to use seamless 4130 tube but I haven't found an answer as to how that would handle the pressure.

I believe Ed Rayl can now do 65". He used to do 72" on older equipment.
This one is 72"

Seamless tube DOES have a seam and is a bad choice for any gun barrel. Talk to custom barrel makers and start saving your money.
There is true seamless tubing made but it is very expensive. Your right about the "seamless tubing" most people buy though. It is welded tubing that was drawn over mandrels to smooth out the weld bead. That is why it's called DOM which stands for "Drawn Over Mandrels". Such tubing is only as good as the weld.

The true seamless tubing is formed by extruding very hot steel thru a die, similar to the process of making macaroni. The forming process must be done in an inert atmosphere to prevent scale.
