Does anyone know where I can find rods for a 42 inch barrel, 50cal.? TBONE

I think Track of the Wolf still carries them. I have one from them that is stainless steel, wood handle and sports a brass muzzle guard that I use during shooting sessions for loading and cleaning. Well made, should last dang near forever.

Log Cabin Supply Lodi Ohio. will have them. I got a couple of 48" hickory from them. DIlly

Tip Curtis has a great selection of steel, wood and brass range rods.

Flintlocks Inc. has a nice selection also.
Their number 317 933 3441
I do not have Tip's number.

Hardware store for a 5/16th steel rod, Track or wherever for a 3/8 OD rod tip and a 5/16th ID bore guide.

Glue the 3/8 OD rod tip with epoxy to the rod, drill and set a metal pin through both for extra security (drill before glue of course). Cut steel rod to desired length, drop the bore guide onto the rod and glue your preference of a handle onto the rod (wood ball, old solid door knob, a piece of 1" dowell rod, etc., etc.) You could weld a steel "T" handle onto it if you like. Screw your prefered jag into the rod tip and you are ready to go and can change calibers easily.

 I agree with JB as October Country supplies the BEST in brass rods. I frankly think plastic rods are dangerous and fibreglas darn near ruinous to barrels. As far as wood is concerned DO NOT use Home Dopey dowels, if you want wood try this Virtually Indestructible Ramrods

For my Charleville, I needed one right away so I ended up buying 2 brass rods at WalMart and using a section of one with the other to extend it. It works great, and when I'm shooting my other guns I have the 2nd rod.

A good welding shop will have braze rod in 3/8". Drill and tap for the jag and add a handle of choice (mine is a Pool ball - #10  )
