I am hoping to come in on March 29 for early set up for the week and half. Watch for my tipi and aligator sighn.

This is a great event but I want to issue a word of warning.

Tennessee is not the sunny south at this time of year! They usually get heavy frost into mid-April. Expect some ice on the water buckets! Two years ago the temps were in the 20s at night.

It gets dark early too!

We had folks down from up north that thought they were comming to the tropics, did not come prepared and nearly froze.

Likewise, we had folks up from Fla that never dreamed it could be that cold in TN!

As at all the National Foundation events, the event organizers searched far and wide until they found a source of unburnable firewood which simmered, sizzled and sucked any warmth out of the air for 100 yards around trying to generate enough heat to produce a flame.

Take plenty of blankets, your braizer, and plenty of charcoal.

Take plenty of money too$$$. Good shopping at this event and really GOOD stuff on the trade blankets.

:hatsoff:

Thanks for the "word of warning", ghost! :hatsoff: I'd looked at the weather channel's average high's & low's for that week ( click here ) and saw exactly what you were warning of!
We'll be christening our new 2-dog stove at this event!

I see you have never been to a 17 degreeeeeee cold Alafia in Fla. with sever wind chill bring moisture in off the Gulf. REaLLLLyyyy cold. But I come prepared for all weather....and I bring my own fire wood. Lots of small seasoned black jack oak and charcoal. :blah:

Ok...the Southeastern is two weeks away if you are going in on the opening day...and a week and a half if you go in early. So who is going????NOW!!!! :blah: :blah:

My folks are at that Rendezvous, they just got there yesterday, I guess it starts tomorrow..

This rendezvous is only 1.5 hours from me and I knew nothing about it. Is it in the same place every year?
