What is the best size to drill a grease hole in an SMR?

What diameter and depth?

Tips on adding one to Kibler SMR?

Thanks
Brant

Totally my opinion of course, and that's based on where I grew up and the rifles I saw around that were originally equipped with grease holes. In this case, the hole's diameter is roughly the same as that of the rifle's patch and depth is approximately one half the thickness of the stock. In use, it was common to have a pre-cut patch pressed into the tallow/grease. After loading, that patch was replaced with a fresh one. The few I've added to rifles were done with a brace and bit. Kinda slow going, but cuts a clean hole and it's easy to keep things under control.

I filled the hole in my SMR with beeswax; don't use grease that way anyhow, and didn't want it getting all over the place. Looks authentic, but don't have to worry about it.

All dependent on caliber. Get a patch and figure what size hole would be handy. I never make mine as big as the patch. I want to push the center of the patch in the hole and rub it around just a bit. I use mine all the time.

Been using patch sized grease hole in the right side of the butt stock for a long time. Only difference is , I store at least 5 or 7 sticky patches in the hole. I don't shoot competition any more . so the patches are for hunting . I keep more greased patches in my shot pouch so I can't run short.
