I have before in Tennessee, but the ticks will tote you off some years…
And snakes are already out on the moving..
That’s why I prefer fishing in the Spring…😎👍

Up here in the mitten the season goes until the March 31st. I've never hunted them that late but I plan to get out at least sometime in the last week just to see how they're moving. Usually by turkey opener about a month later they're out and about.

Our season ends today and doesn't reopen until September.
Unless I was shooting it for a trail or camp meal,,, and thus cleaning, processing, and cooking it right away, I'm not sure how late into the spring I would actually be interested in shooting squirrels...
Couldn't rule out giving it a try though.

You might open up a squirrel with babies growing in there! I've never heard of a spring season on squirrels
I've opened them up in September with babies in the womb. Fact of life for wildlife, though some seasons help to mitigate it some. When hunting deer in December through early February it is likely there are babies in the wombs, as well, just not as developed.

Missouri hosts a season that opens earlier than most. My son and I went to KY last June for their two week small game early season. Did someone say 'Ticks'? That was spot on, LOL. But is was a good time out together. We were scratching the bites for a couple of weeks after that. I'll use Deet next time!

Those are the reasons I don't hunt late deer seasons or early squirrel seasons, one day you may wonder why there are not as many squirrels as there used to be, Just saying. TIME TO START SCOUTING FOR SPRING GOBBLERS AND TROUT FISHING.

Young are usually born between March and April, with a second litter arriving around July or August. Females may give birth to one to nine babies at a time, though somewhere in the range of three to five is typical.

I didn't think there was going to be a spring squirrel season in KY this year. Every time I tried to look it up on the fish and game web site all it showed was fall season. Then I changed the wording I typed in and it states there is, in deed, a spring season here. May 20 through June 16. That hits smack dab in the prime time for my Flathead fishing time but I will no doubt be out squirrel hunting with my Crockett Squirrel Rifle a few days.

Hardly anyone hunts squirrels nowadays. There's so many of them here that I just about have to throw rocks at them to get them out of my way when deer hunting. I have my doubts they will be eradicated. I'm a big time flathead fisherman but I will no doubt be out squirrel hunting when spring season opens as well.
