Squirrel gun ?

NEW SQUIRREL GUN :rotf: :
Picked up a flint lock gun some time back and thought it would make a good squirrel gun. If I miss the squirrel it will just knock down the tree and then he's mine. It is an old Kirkland Arms .84 caliber (8 bore) smooth. Thought it was a wall hanger until I saw the name and the Belgian proofs. Couldn't resist it so had a mold made by Jeff Tanner and burned some powder. No sights, except a front bead, but it hit a steel plate at 75 yards. Made one h*#@ll of a dent. Actually found an ad for this gun in an old Stoegers catalogue from the early 1950's when it sold for $36.00. Didn't pay a lot more for it now. Can't post pics but will send them to someone who can if anyone wants to see it.

I'll bet it's called a squirel gun because the bore is large enough for a squirel to hibernate in!

Last Spring I had to run a whole family out of it before the first shoot! :rotf: By the way, Longfowler, I have a LOOONG FOWLER too. 72" barrel, 7'4" overall. Reach right up and tap them on the head.

Hey Papa, that's a pretty sweet looking gun. I gotta find me something like that before spring or I'll be stuck using my semi-auto 12 on turks again this year. It won't let me upload them to my PC from Kodakgallery without my credit card number...can you resend them as an attatchment? I'm in Vinton county by the way. My parents are pretty close to you in Reynoldsburg though
