Seeing the post with the Gray, fox and black squirrel got me all worked up to go for a while. I grabbed my .32 longrifle flinter and jumped in the car. It was 1.5hrs to where I was hunting and I was raring to go when I pulled up. I entered the woods and immediately jumped a big doe. I stepped into the small creek, so I could sneak deeper into the woodlot and a big fox squirrel jumped from one tree to another a little ahead. He laid flat against the tree as I moved to within range. He leaned over to take a look at me and I touched the .32 off. Ker-Flatch-BOOOM!! He dropped like a rock, he was only 15 yards. I moved up the woodlot and a squirrel started barking from where I had just came from :: (Guess I wasn't paying attention). I moved back toward him and took aim as I spied him sitting on a branch giving me heck. Ker-Flatch-BOOOM!! Another for the pan. What a beautiful sight to see the squirrel on the ground and the big cloud of smoke drifting away :D

I reloaded and spied a gray squirrel pulling off beechtree leaves for his nest. He was completly ignoring me! I walked up to 15 yards and dusted him. I looked over and another gray was watching me from the beech. I reloaded and proceeded to miss his beady little head 3 times :curse: The side of that beech was striped with .32 roundballs!! He finally holed up, I kicked the tree and headed to the next woodlot.

The sound of running game caught my attention as I neared the woodlot and I saw the south end (tail) of a north bound fox squirrel running like the dickens! I smiled and the chase was on!! I bolted into the woodlot and was gaining on him (prob chased him 75 yards), I was trying to make him tree before he got to his den. He finally went up an oak and it took my 5 minutes to get a shot at his head.... He fell into the branches and I had to knock him out with a stick!!

As I headed back to the car, the sunset was absolutely stunning. Fresh game in one hand (a small stick pushed through their legs) and the flinter in the other. It was a good day.... No, it was a GREAT day!

Good luck if you get out.

That was great!

Some people can tell a story real well but don't have much of a story to tell...others can have the best story to tell but don't know how to get it across...you got'em both...a great experience and a great delivery...towards the end I thought I was there with you!
