Anyone know if it's possible to buy a cylinder ratchet for a Starr SAA? Got one here and it's badly worn so the cycling is a bit hit and miss. Hand and spring seems OK and I managed to get a replacement cylinder stop and spring from Dixie to fit and work well but all I can find is complete cylinders from repro guns which is no good for this as it's original. I know these things have got a baaaad reputation for timing and lockup but they've always been on my 'nice' list and it's a real impressive thing, would be good to get it running sweet. Thanks guys.

I don't know much about these guns. Only the exploded view in the Dixie Catalog.

It seems to show the cylinder ratchet machined into the rear of the cylinder, not as a separate piece?

The only revolver I know of that had a separate, removable cylinder ratchet is the Colt Paterson.

Hi Zonie :hatsoff: you may well be right, not sure myself but it does look as though the ratchet may be held on by a large countersunk screw in the centre and when I was building up the worn teeth with the gas welding set I could see separation around the ring (hopefully you may see what I mean from the photo if it uploads ok )
