Very pretty! Rather than retracting the vent pick, which still leaves you with a long piece of steel sticking ou the back end, have you considered making a matching cap for the pick, with perhaps a matching sterling ring at the end to slide over the other half? That might be more robust and less likely to cause you trouble.. Just a suggestion; it's very nice as is.

My intention was to have the pick hanging from my bag and therefore retracted, and then it's easy to extend it to use it. Fewer parts, ease of use.
The trouble comes from the weight. There's almost an ounce of silver between the two.
