Guys,

Is there any significance to the burned in markings on the butt of my '42 Harper's Ferry musket? (C.C. 32) It looks fairly professional not like Johnny carved it in the field.

With the help I've received from all of you I am about prepared to fire it up next week. I just called my range mentor to set up a date we can get together at the range and caught him in the woods hunting deer with his flintlock. :)
