I hope I am posting this in the right area. I have a T/C Renegade that with a heavy load smacks me right on the cheek bone. Now, the rifle had a prior owner who was a lot taller than I. He put a recoil pad on it to accomodate his long arms. Ok, the length of pull was a bit too long for me so I removed the pad and replaced it with a steel T/C butt plate. The question I have is, should I take down the stock in that area or put a filler piece between the butt plate and the stock? I am by no means a stock maker so taking down the stock is kinda scary to me, although I have a background in wood working...I don't want to make things worse.

Thanking all who reply in advance
Curt
