About 6 months ago, I visited my local Gun store looking for #10 caps to fit my revolver, the owner made me a deal on an older case of 10’s(heck of a deal).
Fast forward to tonight, I was testing the Pedersoli 12 SxS(which I normally use #11’s) and grabbed a tin of the older ones(10’s).
They fire fine, if not better than the 11’s.
I just found it strange that the older #10’s fit the nipples as well as the newer #11’s.
Has anyone used the older Remington caps before?

@Steel Hayes, This chart has been posted many times and it will tell you why the Remington #10's fit your #11 nipples. No mystery in predicting that the Reminton #10 caps work on your SxS as we look at the dimensions.

The Remington #10 caps have the same internal ID as the #11. The only difference is the longer skirt.

I had no idea that the #10’s had that much of a difference in internal height.

I used them back in the 70’s when I was a teenager, and they were commonly found for sale new.
Worked fine for me on long guns, and on an early replica 1858 Remington repro .36 caliber revolver we shot sometimes.

I had 2 1858 .36cal, that’s the reason I bought those caps.
I’m happy they’ll work on the shotgun too.

For whatever it is worth. I tried a #10 CCI cap on my Hawken rifle with the Cherry Corners lock and an L&R mainspring. The cap barely started on the nipple. No problem firing the #10 CCI cap. I don't think that I will make that a usual practice though. Too easy for the cap to fall off.

Back in the 1960s and early 70s I used a lot of Remington caps on both c&b and rifle. I also used quite a few of the German ones too. Since then I mostly use whatever I can find and now have a supply of CCI magnums (#11).
