My step-grandfather was known for regularly taking a week to hunt near where he grew up (currently a ghost town -- Molson -- on the dry east side of Washington). Stepmother says she only remembers him taking a deer once.I typically hunt my own farm in Michigan now, where I've always managed to take a deer if I hunted. Got a colon cancer diagnosis last year, which means eating more red meat is not a good idea. The thought of giving up hunting was too much to bear though, so I'm still heading out. Not sure yet if I'm on my step grandfather's program yet or if I'll just be giving the meat away, but I do know that I'll still be enjoying the woods with a gun in hand.
