Stuck mag spark CAP

Just thought I'd throw this out, I put a mag spark on my T/C Cherokee and after one shot the cap got wedged against the back side of the nipple cup tight enough that I could not unscrew it with my fingers. I had to use a pair of needle nose to loosen it enough to unscrew and then had to use a thin blade knife to get the primer out. I'm not saying they aren't good to use, just saying what happened to me. Good thing I wasn't shooting at a deer.

Got one of those to try with really heavy charges behind paper patched in a fast twist .52 caliber. Guess I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I found them to be a PITA and got rid of it ASAP.

We all tried a Mag Spark in the 70s on our TCs, we dumped them quickly because of the stuck primer issue. I understand there is a work-around the stuck primer issue now but don't remember what it is.

T/C has an issue with getting heat to the powder chamber due to the long flash channel and subsequent blockages following a build up of fouling in the chambered breech and flash channel. The Mag spark was supposed to be the solution. The real solution was to learn how to keep the flash channel and chambered breech clear of fouling and to use black powder, not the substitutes.

I bought it to use in bad weather but the way the nipple and hammer are set up on my rifle, the hammer doesn't hit the firing pin square. I didn't notice that until I used it for the first time. Rookie mistake but lesson learned!

I had accuracy issues with my 58 cal when I switched over to use them. I went back to musket caps and got my groups back tight

IMO: It's a gimmick. Couple years ago a friend and i advised a local hunter against installing a Mag Spark on his rifle.

His Mag Spark cost the hunter a once in a lifetime buck-misfire.
