Successful shoot with reproduction Walker

I took my Uberti Walker to the range a week ago and forgot that I wanted to share my results - if anyone cares.

This was the best I did from a bench at 50 yards. Round ball, 30 grains 2F Goex. Each large square on my target is one inch, so about a 2-1/2-inch group. My last shot was that center punch. Felt good too!

Nice shooting! 50 yards with a BP revolver is a challenge, rested or not.

that is great shooting. most guys would be glad if their rifles shot like that

I'm glad to see you shooting the Walker like it was made to shoot, it's not a 10 yard plinker, it's a horse pistol made to be used out to 100+ yards.

I took one of my Walkers out to 100 this past summer and I was surprised. 50 gr charges with balls and bullets. These are hand held carbines not quick draw pistolas.

Thank you all for the comments. I’ve attached a pic of the gun. I restored an old Armi San Marco case and found the accessories to complete the presentation.

I use Hornady 44 cal balls (.451) and No. 1075 RWS caps. No wad but I use a little lube in the cylinder chambers, but not slathered all over.

I didn’t have time to do a lot of load development last trip to the range. Maybe more soon.

This particular Walker has a sweet action and light trigger. I think a previous owner put some work into it. Anyway it really is a great shooter.

Does your loading lever drop after shooting … if so do you just leave it down until the cylinder is empty?

The loading lever dropped when I shot with heavier loads but not with 30 grains. I have tied it up with a short piece of leather and a clove hitch.

Can't leave the lever down if you want to keep shooting. The rammer locks the gun.

What brand is your Walker? I have an older ASM and I am not particularly impressed with the quality. It does, however, touch off with great enthusiasm with a 45 or 50 grain powder charge!

About 7-8 years ago i got a Uberti Walker for Christmas, it's still unfired. Now i've got to take it to the range.
