Keith and I did pull off a grouse scare this past weekend. I managed to find the thickest, nastiest cover in Tioga County and forced him through it. Only in lower Upstate NY is it possible to have standing water on a 60

What happened to bob1961? I thought he was a plank owner in this grouse scare? I had a good excuse about not makin' it. What was his?! ::
When's the next one?

Rick

Oh, same old story. The farther south you go, the less stamina the men-folk have. Bob was a last-minute cancel, too.

Can't be lettin these things like health and family be interfering with important stuff like huntin.

Might also be that he had the chance at a PA deer vs. some of my imaginary NY grouse. :hmm:

Good thing I didn't suggest we have breakfast at the Loundberry Truckstop. It's not a diner any more - just a few vending machines and a questionable pizza oven. Man, I hate progress. :curse:

Next one is Saturday, Dec 25th, unless you softies have something else planned. :: (just kidding).

wow you guys are tuff....i just didn't have the money to get my lic yet....up there in n.y. you have to buy a lic for each season :shake:....at least in pa you buy one lic and differrent stamps for archary, muzzleloader, bear and doe ::..................................bob

Plank Owner is a nautical term loosely applied in this situation to mean someone who is an original participant, or something like that. What do I know? I'm just a grunt! ::

A "plank owner" is a member of the first crew of a ship when that ship was placed in commission. Whaddya expect from a bunch of guys who still call themselves "sailors" when their ships ain't had sails for 140 years? Guess it beats "oilers".

You Pennsyltuckians all talk funny anywho, okay? :haha:

I'm too cheap to ever have purchased a PA license (though I could be convinced otherwise). We're gonna have to get together for a woods walk fun-shoot somewhere so we don't need the licenses.

woods walk hum interesting idea....you have a range in the back yard.............................bob

S'true. Just a 50 yd strip of weeds among the woods, but the neighbors are trained to duck for cover. I've got a case of clay pigeons for fun targets and I'm sure we can find some 3 x 5 cards around here somewhere. ::

You #&^(%^* I thought you knew what those berries were! No wonder I couldn't see the grouse. What with all those wierd colors flashing before my eyes and the pigs flying about. ::

LMAO, We did have a great time. Charlie was a very good host. Although, I have to question his judgement in diners. :hmm:

Yeah, I'm a flatlander, what about it? The closest thing we have to a hill here is the dump. :haha: Mercy was shown. Charlie decided not to drag me up the hill that required technical climbing gear to ascend.

Bob and Rick we all need to get together and see what else we can scare. (Just don't let Charlie pick the restuarant).

A woodswalk, you say? Hmmm. Now that's a fine idea! I made a visit to the USS North Carolina when I was there a few years ago. I tried to become a plank owner, but the security folks frowned upon my attempts to remove the plank from the deck.
A woodswalk does like fun!
