Don't mean to be super critical, but swivel gun and swivel barrel gun denote two distincticly different weapons to me. A swivel gun is/was a small cannon, mountable in a special socket usually along a ship's rail and used primarlily to repel boaders. A swivel barrel gun is, as pictured. with two co-axial swiveling barrels about an axis allowing a relatively rapid second shot before reloading. Perhaps, just for clarification sake, we should distinguish between these two. I would not have been concerned with this other than for a project a friend and I cooked up while partaking of adult refreshments for making a small salute cannon and eagerly pursue any and all leads to that end. :hmm:

My Bad!!! I don't live near water, so a boat mounted cannon never occurred to me. I owned a swivel gun (rifle) for several years and that was all I ever heard it called...although swivel breech is, indeed, more correct. Sorry to have mislead you which caused you to use your time looking at something not of interest to you...I was just trying to be helpful to several members who HAD expressed interest in this type of rifle. :peace:

The ebay part is interesting and thanks for including the link!

The name for this type of barrel isn't precise. In addition to the term the ebay seller used, the three names that I am aware of are 1) 'Wender' from old english wendan, meaning to wind, twist; 2)'Over and Under' a term used by Kaufman in his book from 1952, and this may refer more to the completed rifle than the barrel per se; 3)'Swivel Breech' used by multiple firearms books authors.

The ancient Greek physician was right about terms: it is sometimes useful to have names that are unique and not redundant.

he has remove the barrel from biding...I guess he had so many questions on the barrels and parts he is going to sell as a package deal

When he saw the interest he was getting his price went from $50 a unit to $200 per unit, over the phone. That included shipping and the breech plate.

I just ordered one and he was down to 4 complete parts units left @ $250.00. Emery

Mazo Kid....what do you get other than a barrel and parts....does the swivil mech. come with it? Oh yea...what's his phone number? if you don't want to post his number, please email it to me. thanks
