I guess I haven't been paying attention, but I'd never heard of it until I got one in a trade. Seems to be 1:32 twist.--Any opinions? When were they made & how much did it cost. Thanks

Check out this Link

I would guess they were made some time in the 90's. Nothing special about them just a TC varient. Should be a good shooter with conicals.

I'm not sure what you have.
The Blue Book of Modern Black Powder Values only shows one Thompson Center "BLACK MOUNTAIN MAGNUM" and its a 12 guage "Turkey Cap lock with a 27 inch round barrel with a "special Turkey Choke Tube". It has a blue finish and a "Composite stock".

Could it have been rebarreled?

MSRP 349.00 They made a 54.cal Western barrel also 1 in 38 twist also 50 cal. 1 in 28 twist, The black mountain magnum came with wood or plastic stock, T/C lists a plastic camo stock around 125.00 today.
I have a 50 and 54 cal barrels, the 50. cal is a straight shooter. Have not shot the 54 barrel yet, The 12 ga. New Englander barrel will fit the black Mountain stock..... This was T/C answer to magnum loads. The manual states you can use up to 150 grs. of powder in the rifle barrel only! Their answer to the new in---- magnum guns. The 1 in 28 barrel is better suited for sabot ted bullets. prefer the wood stock, I think this gun came out in the mid 1990's, I really like this gun............... rifle-shotgun combo. Happy shooting!

I have two of them- One is a 50 and the other a 54. They have the faster twist and are designed for conicals and sabots. The barrels and stocks interchange with the New Englander. They were brought out, I believe, to provide modern muzzle loader performance for hunters going to states with restrictions on the moderns. There was even a flinter version for Pennsylvania. They will take modern muzzle loader charges, but I get my best accuracy (3" or so at 100 yards) in my 50 with 90 gr of pyrodex. Some of them have the muzzle overbored for an inch or so as an aid to loading. They were not real popular and are not real valuable, you can check what they are selling for over on Gunbroker.com . I like mine and have taken several deer with it.
