I completely understand being in a hurry...and getting older has just the opposite effect...we're running out of time and HAVE to be in a hurry!! ::

NOTE: IF YOU DIDN'T ALREADY TELL THEM, CALL THEM BACK AND MAKE SURE THEY DON'T PUT THE "QLA" FALSE MUZZLE IN THE END OF THE BARREL...it's worthless with "round balls", increases difficulty when loading, and you lose an inch of rifling.

I've actually accumulated several of TC's 1:66" round ball barrels (w/o QLA) in different calibers for the Hawken, both percussion and flint, and they're excellent barrels.

One time a new .50cal flint barrel had a problem where the POI began walking left as it heated up. Sent it back, they "relasered" it and returned it to me but same problem when it heated up...sent it back, told them to either replace it or junk it but not to return it to me again under any circumstances.

They replaced it, and the replacement barrel is perfect...sights are still dead center, shoots a ragged hole...this would be a good barrel for me to put primitive sights on...just center them up and go.
(In fact, this is the rifle I'll be shooting for this week's Saturday range session).

I think they may have done some TLC on the replacement before they sent it to me...bore seems the brightest and slickest of any new bore I've ever looked at...loads like a dream, fouling is almost non-existent, most accurate TC barrel I have.

They have the occasional problem with a part here and there, like there are occasional problems with all companies products...but at the end of the day, TC's warranty service has been outstanding for me.
:redthumb:

Roundball,, Thanks for the reply,, They told me bout not havin the QLA on the new barrel,, I feel MUCH better now that I know you are still happy with your's,, Thanks again,, I am learnin to slow down bein here in Ky, now,, I'm doin better ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, is it 6 weeks yet ???

Hey Roundball & Hobbles,
Is the 50cal 1/66 barrel from FoxRidge 31" or 33"?
And I also would agree with not getting the QLA on a PRB barrel.

What is the part numbers for the 50cal 1/66 percussion?

Tahquamenon,,,, AHHH MAn,, it is 31inch not 33,, my bad,,,
I am gettin the 50cal 1/66 percussion, and I don't know the part number,, I didn't ask,, and I do believe it is from FoxRidge,, Their number is 1-800-243-4570,,

Actually my .45's and .50's are 31" + a 1" breech plug for 32" total; (I think my .54's are 1" shorter)

Don't have a catalog handy...give Fox Ridge a shout at:
1-800-243-4570 Option #3

I have the new catalog, but didn't find anythin in it bout the 1 in 66 barrel,, I got that from readin roundballs post..

Do they have a 1/66 for 45?

Unfortunately they discontinued making the .45cal 1:66" RB barrels 4-5 years ago...I have one percussion and two flint...have begged and whined to no avail to have them make some more but no.

FYI, GM says they're going to add a .45cal Hawken "drop-in" RB flint barrel to their line this year...$250 !!

Yep I picked up an excellent .45 hawken perc 1:48/28 (no QLA) a little while back and would love a 31" 1:66 barrel.

My first .45 in anything. Pretty sweet.

Great news on the .45 drop in flint seeings how I just put my toe into the 15/16" stock and 50cal!

Cool.
