This is my first post here. Anyone know if you can put a Cherokee barrel on a Seneca stock? I have a 32 and 45 Cherokee barrel but only one stock. I would like to get another stock but want to know if the Seneca stock is an option. Anybody try this?

Thanks, Bardo

welcome aboard. it will fit but you will have to shorten the under-rib about an inch or so to put a Cherokee barrel on a Seneca stock. and if you put a Seneca barrel on a Cherokee stock there will be about an inch or so gap from end of under-rib to end of fore-arm.

I have a 32 Cherokee, and a 36 Seneca, but never tried to switch barrels, but I think Bubba, has already answered that. I had a chance last Friday to buy another 36 Seneca, and changed my mind, and called a friend, who was looking for one.

Two weeks ago, I walked into an old country gun store and saw a lock in a baggie laying in the case. They had no idea what it was, but I did. Got a brand new Seneca/Cherokee lock for $30.

The one in my Cherokee, had some home-made machined parts, so finding a replacement was a happy day.

I found my spare lock for the seneca for $15 as the person also didn't know what it was and wanted to move some stuff.

Bubba thanks. Have you switched barrels before. I was wondering if the longer stock on the Seneca and shorter barrel still looks good. Maybe I should just look for a Cherokee stock, they are just hard to come by. And if any of you want to part with your "spare" locks for $30 let me know :rotf: . I have a patriot in 45 as well.

Keep an eye on the "classified" area here, the same on other muzzleloading sites and the gun auction sites as as well. Sometimes stocks show up. Might enable you to put two guns together.

hey bardo, it won't really look all that different just a bit shorter. I've got Renegades with barrels from 21 to 32 inches & New Englanders with 19 & 26 inch barrels and they all look good in their own way. biggest improvement I've ever seen is one Seneca that I had a previous owner replaced the ugly blue t/c thimbles with brass. totally changed the looks of that gun, at least in my eyes. luck to ya & have a good'en, bubba.

I have a 45 Patriot as well. The lock plate is different, but internals the same, I think.

I've always wanted to build a custom pistol, using a slightly scaled up Patriot style stock, in a 50 or 54, but using maple instead of walnut. And maybe a flintlock.
