What is the proper procedure for removing and installing a T/C lock for cleaning? Not sure what I am doing.

Go to half cock, remove the lock mounting bolt from the left side, wiggle the lock out of it's mortise...if it's tight, slide the lock bolt back in a couple turns and gently tap the head of the bolt to pop the lock free, then remove the bolt and it should wiggle out OK.

I clean mine with hot soapy water & toothbrush every time I have to clean the rifle...then I blow it out with compressed air and/or power flush it with an aerosol can of WD-40.

If you don't have compressed air available the power flush with WD-40 will do fine...you're just wanting to force all moisture out of the internals...shake off the excess, let it drain on a rag, etc

Thanks Roundball, the lock was tight and I was afraid to put much pressure on it.Its not my gun and I didnt want to screw something up.A little wiggling like you said and it came out.

Also helps to remove the barrel (pull the ramrod, pull hammer back to half cock, remove wedgeand lift out barrel) as the bolster is made to fit over the top of the lock.
