Did T.C. ever build one without half cock or has someone been goobering around with this one? Trigger is a bit wonky too. Set trigger hard to pull and lots of creep on the front trigger. Thanks, James

It’s also possible that the tumbler is damaged and creating the no halfcock condition. Maybe someone dry fired the double set triggers with the gun in the half cock position once too often. TC actually used to recommend adjusting the set triggers with the gun at half cock, though I don’t know why, as it was a known way to break tumblers and sears. Everything is locked up at half cock and the set trigger hits the sear bar with no place to go.

Post a few photographs and maybe someone will see something that could be causing the problem.

It didn't come from the factory with no half-cock notch. It's either broke or as you say, 'been goobered'.

Remove the lock and trigger assembly. Try each in your hands to check function. If the lock goes to half cock properly and full cock properly and the sear releases properly then concentrate on adjusting the set trigger. I would bet it’s the trigger flat spring adjustment. But a good polishing and proper lube will work wonders.

some t/c triggers had slot n when lock reinstalled the sear arm had to be in the slot. some the trigger had to be held forward. if not sear arm could break or bend when forced onto mortice. mike

I believe that was only the in the case of a single trigger, not the double set trigger mentioned in the OP.

I have a .45 TC Seneca and there is no noticeable half cock position. When I lower the hammer from full cock, it rests just slightly above the nipple.

Taking it apart to clean and polish surfaces. Then I'll lube and re-assemble. Half cock works when it's out of the gun. Loosening the allen on the flat spring helped a lot. I think I'll shim it. Thanks for the help.

This information fixed 90% on most TC cocking problem I've encountered.
