I see that L&R sells replacement locks for t/c hawkens and renegades. Have any of you used these locks? Are they any good? Is there any advantage to using one over the using the original t/c lock?

I like knowing that the L&R lock is driven by a traditional leaf spring. The TC/Investarms coil springs are a modern day contrivance.
I'm not dissin TC and Investarms here. I have a soft spot in my heart for my first BP gun, a Cabela's "Hawken". I'll bet half the guys on this forum started with TC or Investarms half stocks.

Unless you just want to, there's no longer any need to consider 'replacing' a TC lock with some other brand...TC has significantly redesigned their Flint lock assemblies...changed the size and shape of the hammer, improved the frizzen, and the locks now work perfectly...100% reliable, long flint life, etc...I shoot one every weekend year round.
In fact, if you have the early style design lock, priority mail it to the attention on TC Service Manager Tim Pancurak, tell him it's not as reliable as it should be, can't depend on it, etc...could he look it over and see what he can do to make it 100% reliable, etc.
You'll either get that lock back with the redesigned, reliable parts installed, or a complete new lock assembly...all under lifetime warranty at no charge.
