While surfing some time ago I came across a site advertising various gunsmithing services and components, as well as custom guns, I think. Anyway they advertised full length replacement stocks for T/C hawkens and Renegades. If anybody here is familiar with this company, could you please refresh my memory as to who it was? Thanks.

I bought one of these a few years ago and it is a beautiful piece of wood. I must also say that it had an awful worm hole and stain near the lock side toe area. I was on a short turn around to get the job done, so I had to make do. Check it carefully and if it is not right -- send her back pronto!

If you want to see a beautiful stock for a T/C Hawken a member here, I think he is White Buffalo, replaced his with a maple stock. I did a search and the pics are gone now but maybe he will post them again.
It will amaze you what a T/C Hawken can look like.

Just a comment to clarify some things about the Pecatonica Stock.

This is not a "drop in, do nothing but sand it" stock.

The butt plate area is not finished. This allows you to make the "pull" any length you want just to suit you.

As I recall, the tang area of the breech is not fully inlet, and the underlug key slot isn't cut.

It will take some fitting as well as finishing to complete it.

The stock, as was pointed out, is available in several types of wood and several grades of Curly Maple and the price will depend on which wood you select.

The stock has more "drop" than a standard TC stock so the alignment of the barrel with your eye is better.

If you buy one of these, by all means, stop into the Builders Bench forum to get pointers and have your questions answered. :)

Hey Guys ...

I am considering one of these Pecatonica replacement stocks for my TC Renegade with its 50 cal Green Mountain IBS PRB barrel .. I simply do not like the original TC buttstock's higher "point of view" stock while sighting down the barrel, I definitely do want more stock drop ... so my question to those of you with experince with Pec's replacment stocks is ... has anyone of you just gotten the basic Maple "level 1" replacement? How did it look ..was it good, bad or just so, so, or whatever?

I am currenlty leaning towards the Walnut grade but I just do not know which one I want right now. Any suggestions ... etc, would be appreciated.

Also I am leaning towards replacing the original Renegade buttplate with an English shotgun style buttplate .. what do you think? Please let me hear your opinions. :applause:

Thanx

Davy
