I have a T/C New Englander .50 that I've owned and shot for over 12 years. The barrel has hardly any rifling left, the wear due to over cleaning, or simply having so many rounds through it.

I have been reading on different forums that T/C's warranty is really great, so I boxed up the barrel and sent it back. It would have never dawned on me to do this, but I've heard others have had good results, so I packed up the barrel and sent it back to T/C.

Do you suppose they will re-do the rifling or replace the barrel? If any of you have sent items back to TC, please let me know.

Thanks.

I ringed a barrel through my own stupidity and admitted to such. Offered to pay for a new barrel and they sent me one free of charge. That was about 3 years ago.

If I were to bet, I'd bet you get the same treatment. T/C is the BEST company I've ever done business with!

as long you have not drilled the barrel or taken out the breech for anything like that it will be covered for life..............bob

JHabs: t/c as far as the warranty repair they are the best. The one problem if they have any new englanders barrel in stock.I have a 54 cal. new englander that was just return from them to me they did restock the gun, stocks are a little different then what they use to be.The gun is no longer made and they just may replace the model with something close to the new englander.I pick up the 54 cal. new englander last year from a gun shop that was a trade in ,gun was never fired mint condition $200.00 buck .I love the gun shoot great, keep us posted t/c will do right by you.

That makes me feel pretty good. Now I feel really guilty for purchasing a Traditions Hawken as a stopgap piece. (until I could afford another T/C)

Switching from a good company makes me feel like I'm cheating on a faithful wife.

There's no problem with New Englander barrel availability, lonewolf. They sell 'em at Fox Ridge Outfitters. Last I looked they have .54, .50 and shotgun New Englander barrels. Bought a .54 myself as a spare for my .50 Greyhawk, which it fits just fine.

You do have a point though. Part's availabity for the no longer produced Seneca or Cherokee is very poor. My Seneca had a serious problem in the stock at the wedge pin. They offered to send me a new System 1 at the time if I returned the Seneca to them. I could buy a System 1 (and did), but could not buy another Seneca. So I spent some time fixing the stock with Acra-Glass. It came out fine on the second try. I imagine if I had returned the Seneca, it would've become a parts gun....or some T/C guy's pet.

Update:

I got a post card from TC stating that they had recieved my barrel.

Is this a good sign that they will be replacing the barrel?

Thanks

It just means they got your barrel. It may be a few weeks before you find out how they resolved the problem.
