this is the name that was on the wheel lock barrel; i should have looked closer the first time. the date was early 1980's. any info? thanks.

See if there is a chance that it is J. Kirklin (Jerry, I think). He is a fine maker who has been building since the 70's as I recall. His lines are great. I have some old Muzzle Blasts with his guns in them.

well i think i am getting 'stuck on stupid'; wrong again, it really does look like the photo shows T. Kirklin.

dang, i am getting more senilier by the minute.

Jerry kirkin was recommended to me in the 70's by William Buchele. I have two kirlin rifles: a tennesse mtn rifle patterned off of the Jacob Gross gun, and a fullstock Hawken. Both were bought in the 70's. Three years ago he built a smooth rifle from a Chamber's kit. I believe Jerry no longer builds. I tried to call him using his KRA listed number and the phone is not in service. Brad Emig has one of Jerry'sw guns for sale shown in the Cabin Creek webpage. It's another Tenn rifle. The price is $4000.00!

Last time I saw Jerry was at one of the old Ohio Kentucky Rifle shows held at the old Stratford Auction Barn outside Deleware, this was back in the late 70s or early 80s. At that time Jerry was no longer making longrifles he was focusing on fantastic looking wheelocks. He was selling brass castings for very early longrifles at the show.

Regards, Dave

Sent Jerry an email the other day to say "hi" and wish him a Happy New Year. No reply.

Sent another email to Emig to get some insight to the formidable pricing of the Tenn. Mtn rifle shown in his Cabin Creek website.
